Wi-Fi Quickstart

Single LAN with Captive Portal

This sample scenario represents the simplest HSG deployment, using HSG as a hotspot gateway and any type of wireless AP at the LAN side. All users and AP’s management IP are in the same flat network.
A single captive portal page (Landing page) is used with single or multiple login methods with different User Access Control.

See Single LAN with Captive Portal Lab

Multi-SSID/VLAN/Portal

This sample scenario represents an HSG deployment for a large hotspot network, where you broadcast multiple SSID and require each SSID to offer a differentiated user experience with a unique portal per SSID (e.g. each SSID mapping to its own VLAN).

See Multi-SSID/VLAN/PORTAL Lab

Roaming with Multi-VLAN and Signal SSID/Portal

This sample scenario represents a very large HSG deployment, where you want to offer a seamless user experience across the entire network. However, due to the large size of the network, you may have a single SSID but mapped to Multi-VLANs at different locations, all sharing the same Login portal. Can use any type of AP at LAN side, Have dedicated management VLAN for AP management addressing (VLAN1), Single SSID, but mapped to different VLANs at different locations and Same portal across all VLANs, and seamless user roaming experience across VLANs.

High Availability Wi-Fi Networks

This sample scenario focuses on HSG high availability (HA) deployment, to provide seamless failover in case of hardware failure. This is particularly important for on-premise deployment for large venues to ensure maximum service uptime.

VLAN Steering/NAC

In this scenario, we showcase how we can use captive portal features to dynamically steer users to their respective VLAN based on the user profile. Traditionally, if we want to assign authorized users to different networks, we need to run multiple SSID to map to multiple VLANs and multiple portals for a different profile of users. Then users need to choose their respective SSID to connect and sign-in to their respective network. This can confuse users and also hard to maintain Wi-Fi configurations.
