Access Profile

Overview

User can create and control profiles for login methods like Username password, MAC Address, PIN Code, Direct Access, Standard Login, Email, SMS, and Guest access profile. The profiles are configured in three ways :

  • Manual Access Profile Creation – User can create the profile, configure Access Details and attach it to a User Account.
  • Auto Access Profile Creation – The profiles are created for a user account based on certain login methods like Email, SMS, and Social Media. Upon successful login, the User Account and Profile are auto-generated which is visible in the ‘User management’.
  • System Access Profile Creation – The system profile is the pre-configured profile, where the user can clone the profile, configure it and attach it to a User Account.

User can access the Access Profile page by navigating to ‘HOTSPOT USERS > Access Profile‘. As shown in Image 1 below.

The fields of Access Profile page are summarized below:

New Access Profile

To create a new profile you can click on button as shown in Image 1 above.

Profile Info Tab

Enter a name for the profile in the ‘Profile Name‘ field without any space, and a Description for reference.

Access Info Tab

Access Info page displays the list of Access Details to control the login method and usage session of the User Accounts or Devices. It can restrict the user’s Speed, Duration, Network segment, No of devices per account, and much more details to control.

From each dropdown <<button>> there are multiple options available to select based on the Portal requirement. To remove a specific option, you can click on <<Button>> and save.

Procedure – (Manual Profiles )

  1. Fill in the Profile Name & Description field, then select the Profile Info tab to create a new profile.
    • Eg: Create a new profile for a User account with 30mins free internet access:
      • Set Upload and Download speed
      • Set Limit 30 Minutes per day for a Device.
      • Set Redirect to specific URL after successful login
  1. Save the configuration by clicking on Entity savechanges button.
  2. Map the Access Profile to the User account created in the ‘User Management’ page ??? <<Link to User Management page>>

Procedure – (Auto Profile )

NOTE

HSG system auto-creates the Access Profile for Login types like Email, SMS, and Social Media after the first time logins are tested successfully by the user.

  1. Configure the Captive Portal with Login Method as per customer requirement.
    • Step 1 Configure the Hotspot Network setting. See ??
    • Step 2 Configure Captive Portal and Customized. See Portal Customization
    • Step 3 Configure Backend Setting for above Captive Portal. See Login Method Types
      • Enable Email OTP option.
    • Step 4 Configure Hotspot Instance. See Hotspot Setting
  2. Test the Email OTP login with a valid email id and complete the login process successfully.
    • Once the above process is completed, the system will capture the Username and auto-create the Profile which will be mapped to the Username.
  3. Navigate to ‘HOTSPOT USER > User management‘, click the Local Users tab
    • The user’s email id appears below the Username column and profile name below the Profile column – This profile is auto-created by the system. Shown in Image 4 below.

  1. Click the Profile name to navigate to the edit profile page and click on the Access Info tab to change the policies as per customer requirement.
