VLAN Steering with Extreme AP

Find the below steps to configure VLAN steering.

Devices and the version used to configure VLAN steering
  • HSG (any model) and firmware & CMS version greater than the year 2022xxxx
  • Extreme Access point:
    • AP model – AP305C
    • OS Version – 10.4.0.0
    • Management – Extreme Cloud IQ

Step 1 (Configure Hotspot Gateway)

Step 2 (Planning configuration)

  • Login to Extreme Cloud IQ
  • Configure location, Building & Floor ( Navigate to menu Manage > Planning, to configure the planning session.)

Step3 (Configure Network Policy – Extreme)

  • Configure Network Policy (Navigate to menu Configure > Network Policy, Click on ‘ADD NETWROK POLICY‘ button.
  • Fill in the Policy Name and Description fields, as per below image, the click ‘SAVE‘ & ‘NEXT‘ button

Step 4 (Configure SSID – Extreme)

  • Configure the SSID by clicking on the ‘+‘ icon to configure SSID details
  • Key in the SSID and Broadcast Name
  • Select ‘OPEN‘ option from the ‘SSID Usage

  • Below the ‘User Access Settings‘, click the ‘+‘ sign in the ‘Default User Profile
  • Enter a ‘Profile Name’
  • Select ‘VLAN‘ option from ‘Connect to‘ and click on ‘+‘. The ‘New VLAN Object‘ will appear
  • Key in the ‘Name‘ and the ‘VLAN ID‘ and click on ‘SAVE VLAN‘ button
  • Click on ‘SAVE USER PROFILE

Step 5 (Enabling MAC Authentication – Extreme)

  • Select ‘MAC AUTHENTICATION‘ from ‘SSID Usage‘ section in ‘Wireless Network‘ page.
  • Enable the ‘MAC AUTHENTICATION‘ button
  • Select ‘PAP‘ from the ‘Authentication Protocol‘ field
  • Click the ‘+’ sign to configure the Ransnet radius server in the ‘Authenticate via RADIUS Server‘ session.

Step 6 (Configure Radius Server – Extreme)

  • Click the ‘+’ sign to configure the Radius server settings

  • Enter all the details related to Radius server

  • To add the Radius server Ip, click on ‘+’ sign
  • Give a name to the radius host , ip address and save

  • Click on ‘SAVE EXTERNAL RADIUS
  • Select the configured External Radius Server and click on ‘SAVE RADIUS‘ button and test the VLAN steering.
